Rudai 23: Your Professional Brand

Building a professional reputation can be tricky, and one way to do this is to build your professional brand.

By brand I like to think, "How do I stand out", "What are my interests" etc.

By now you all should know I love networking online especially through Twitter, and most of my voluntary work with Committess and Teams is done in a virtual way.

So this is how I have build my personal brand, I am involved in many Twitter chats, webinars, online projects (such as Rudai 23) and my committee work with SLA is all done virtually.

I have hosted webinars on the topic, and written many blogs and articles surrounding the postive imapct online networking can do, it is great to build a CPD portfoilio.
I love to see and hear other people's perspective. It gets us out of that bubble, where we hear the same things and argue the same problems over and over again. By engaging and listening to other people and seeing how they provide solutions we are all the time reinventing oursleves, becoming better.

Twitter is the tool for me, I have tried Linkedin over the years and I have failed to see the impact it brings me, it constantly confuses me.

I am nearing my 2,000 follower on Twitter, it has been slack this last year and a bit as I have been posting a lot about new authors and books and veered away from posting about LIS news, this will have to change.

Until them I am going to motor on and get my Rudai 23 finihed and to end it I shall be doing a Twitter chat in May around the topic of Online Networker, so please feel free to join me @uklibchat

  1. Two thousand Twitter followers! 'We're not worthy, we're not worthy'! (that's an extremely out of date pop culture reference).
